I have a confession. I haven't written in my journal for years. I actually used to use Facebook as my "journal," noting weekly activities and sharing photos. That stopped after my daughter graduated from college or sometime around then in 2022.
In 2022, what changed is that my husband and I became empty nesters and decided that it was our turn to do things for us. My husband, being the epitome of altruism, said "It's your turn. Let's open your restaurant." So, he transferred his job and we made a move to beautiful La Quinta, California. Located in Greater Palm Springs (aka Coachella Valley) and nestled at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, La Quinta is a resort city and home to PGA West, the iconic La Quinta Resort & Club and neighbor to Indian Wells Tennis Gardens. Living in La Quinta is like living in a little bubble. It is clean, safe and feels like a vacation town. Many residents are transplants such as me and my husband, and many celebrities and moguls have vacation homes in the area. You'll often see folks riding in their golf carts, walking dogs and riding bikes. Someone once gave me a comparison of Coachella Valley cities vs. Los Angeles cities: Palm Springs is like West Hollywood, Palm Desert like Santa Monica, Indian Wells like Beverly Hills and La Quinta like Malibu. If you know the areas, you too might think, "Hmmmm, I can see that." La Quinta is laid back and folks are not in a hurry. Making La Quinta our home has been nice. Except, until most recently, I haven't been able to enjoy my surroundings. I'll explain later. Welcome to my blog. :)
